Holidays
- At the end of summer, In August and a large part of July, most French take their annual vacations. Businesses shut down during this time and Paris is often said to be empty with everyone at the beach or in the countryside.
- Under French law, every citizen is entitled to five weeks of holidays a year. France also has annually 11 national fete days. In addition to this there are many regional festivals.
- Two of the 11 national days are religious holy days (All Saints and Assumption) but other religious holy days are often granted by employers as holidays for their workers.
- With these holidays, in May there can be a holiday every week – so best to check venue opening days for May trips.
- Easter also has many traditions associated with it.
