Angers is in the department of Maine-et-Loire, 300 km south-west of Paris. It is a large city on both banks of the Maine which is spanned by six bridges. Two key features of the city are its massive and ancient chateau with moat, huge towers and lovely gardens and the impressive twin spires of the 12th century Cathedral of Saint-Maurice.
