Our apartment in Isle sur la Sorgue, in the Vaucluse area of Provence
At the northeast gateway to Provence and only 20 minutes by train or car from Avignon (which is only 2.5 hours via TGV from Paris), Isle sur la Sorgue is known as the Venice of France with its many water ways and wheels. The town has over 250 antique shops, making it the second largest antique centre outside Paris. It has many cafes/restaurants and the markets held on Sunday are the best we have seen in all of France (smaller markets are also held on Thursday). While there is plenty to do in town, transport is also available to many local attractions including Fountaine de Vaucluse, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille (the start of the French Riviera to St Tropez, Cannes and Nice) and Avignon. It is also close to Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles as well as lots of pictureque villages including Grignan, Gordes, Roussillon, Orange and Vaison de Romanie. It The Cote du Rhone wine district is nearby too as is the famous Chateauneuf de Pape. Not too far away as well is the towns of Arles and Nimes as well as the Camargue and Canal du Midi. Our apartment is located right around the corner from the main cafe/shop strip and although dating back to 1850, has recently been nicely renovated. It has one double bedroom, a separate large living area which can sleep another 3 people with a balcony off it through french doors, overlooking the cafe square, and a fully equiped, separate kitchen with a dining table. For further information about our house and village:
Price is $1,000 per week June - September and $750 per week for the rest of the year, with a once off $50 cleaning fee and $150 refundable security deposit. Email David and Sharon to book. |
